A GLIMPSE: THE RISEN JESUS IS PICTURED AS STANDING UPON THE CROSS, CRUSHING THE DEVIL

While he gives any discussion to what temptation is and how it can be overcome by each instance.

Temptation: here is a proposal and suggestion.

  1. You are hungry

  2. Food is the answer

  3. You should use your power and you should get what you want or need

This proposal attempts to address the end of the story.

One fasts and the fasting represents important things, something maybe like an overturning of a decision. Wrong then looks good and it appeals to a desire for power.

  1. You are alone, powerless and unrecognized

  2. You do have a power which others should recognize

  3. You should display the power to get what is coming your way

Surely after all, under what circumstances would anyone want such a life – defeating again the whole purpose.

The reason more is offered has nothing to do with you—he is simply a cardshark.

      1. Since you are who you are, everyone should honor you

      2. It is fitting that you should rule over all people

      3. He boldly lies stating that he can arrange all of this

There is certainly at present a pragmatic solution. By reaching an agreement, it all could be solved. It then could be affected quickly and conveniently in a manner seemingly acceptable to both parties.

1. This is not going to happen

2. There is no middle ground that will satisfy you both

3. The choice must be made and you have to make it

To summarize, we see what you are doing, in each case the condition of hope is the goal in view – a mere working it out beyond suggestion or reason – all of this, pursued in a manner that is terribly excessive and you decide to go forward with your plan.
